About the DGA of Japan

The Disabled Golf Association of Japan was established in 1991, and is the most active among disabled golf organizations. Today, the DGA has over 600 members in Japan, who reside throughout the country from the northern island of Hokkaido to the southern island of Okinawa. Despite their differences in disabilities and golf games, our members share a love for golf and enjoy improving their games.
Our activities reach out internationally and we have created a friendship with the NAGA (National Amputee Golf Association). We have been invited to compete in their Annual Championships every year, and send selected players to travel overseas. Also, two of our members traveled to Sweden to play in the Inter National Elite Golf Championships and finished with excellent results!

Korean Team
We also have a strong relationship with our neighboring country, Korea, whose KDGA members often come to compete in our tournament. Our players also, traveled to Korea in 2007 to play in the KDGA Championships.
Every year, many players from around the world come to compete in our Japan Open Championships. We enjoyed the company of guest from the United States, Canada, England, Germany, Sweden, Australia, and Korea. We hope to see more players from many other countries in the future.

DGA activities include;

- The Open tournament for those suffered from Stroke – May
(* this tournament is mainly targeted for those who suffered from Stroke)
- The Open tournament for Chugoku/Shikoku district – March

Divisions according to disabilities;
- Upper body disability
- Lower body disability

- Mild disability
- Disability from Stroke
- Mental disability

In addition to the above divisions, there is our “Grandpri division.” Made only for the Japan Open, this division was created for those who wish to compete on a high level, therefore regardless of one’s disability, a player must have an official index of 15 or below and must submit proof.
Over the years, we have learned from many of our foreign friends how to host our international guests. We offer support as best we can, by introducing interpreters and making English programs. Language will not be a barrier in our tournaments! Although it is a bit of a travel from Europe and North America, we assure you great culture and food, scenic golf courses, and fun entertainment. By all means, come and enjoy our beautiful golf courses, and we will offer you our best hospitality!
